COMPROMISE STRATEGIES AND CRISIS MANAGEMENT OF BREWERY INDUSTRY IN SOUTH-EAST, NIGERIA
Abstract
The main objective of this study focused on the relationship between compromise strategies and crisis management of brewery industry in South-East, Nigeria. The main objective of this study is to investigate the relationship between compromise strategies and crisis management. The research design adopted was survey design and questionnaire was used as an instrument of data collection. The population of the study covered the entire 573 senior and management staff of three major brewery companies in South-East, Nigeria. From the population, the researcher used Taro Yamane sampling formular to reduce the population and select 236 staff as sample size. The data collected were presented in tables and analysed using Mean Statistic and Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient (at 0.05% level of significance) through SPSS version 21.0. The study found that accommodating strategy and collaborating strategy have significant and positive effect on management pro-activeness and re-activeness in the organisation. The study concludes that compromise strategy is one of the basic approaches for the management of vulnerability of brewery industry in South-East, Nigeria. Based on these findings, it was recommended that business organisations like the brewery firms should always use the accommodating strategy so as to achieve pro-activeness in managing crisis; and there should be good understanding among worrying parties so that each group will know the need for accommodating to achieve the stability and sustainability in business.
