MARKET POTENTIALS OF SOME FORESTRY PRODUCTS LOCALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY

Abstract

This paper tried to reveal the resources endowed in our Forests which are hither neglected and not been tapped as should be. All efforts were based on the production of major forest product,while those which are regarded as minor were relegated despite the fact that they are now attracting world-wide recognition and usage.This paper therefore, tends to dwell on some of this minor forest products which if harnessed upon by our populace,will not only boost their economic status but as well protect our fragile environment. These species include Acacia Senegal ( Hausa, Dakwara) Gum Arabic and Jatropha carcus( Hausa,Bini da zugu)..All these species sold readily both locally and internationally.
