Abstract
This paper explores the Islamic perspective on the role of Waqf (endowment) in sustaining human welfare, with a specific focus on Gombe North. Waqf, a charitable practice in Islam, involves dedicating properties for public use as acts of charity (Ibadah). The study aims to fill the gaps in literature regarding Waqf's contribution to human welfare sustenance. It begins with an overview of Waqf, highlighting its significance in Islamic tradition and its historical relevance in the Uthman Empire's development. Addressing research gaps such as limited materials on Waqf in university libraries, the study formulates research questions to explore Waqf's concept, its role in human welfare, its management in Gombe North, and associated challenges. Drawing on Islamic jurisprudence, the literature review covers Waqf's historical background, legal conditions, and types, bolstered by quotes from Islamic scholars and Quranic references. Methodologically, the study employs a qualitative approach, utilizing primary sources like questionnaires and interviews alongside secondary literature. Findings underscore Waqf's significance in social and religious development, highlighting its pivotal role in sustaining human welfare. This abstract underscores the importance of human sustainability for state security and peace, emphasizing Waqf's contribution to achieving these objectives. Ultimately, the research aims to enhance understanding and promotion of Waqf practices for community benefit, particularly in Gombe North.
