Abstract

The survival and development of a country are dependent on the contributions and efforts made by its constituent parts. Of course, these efforts and contributions come in different forms, shades and colours. But on the whole, where one or more sections of the country lag behind in terms of development, the impact on the particular section and on the country as a whole is generally negative and telling. The Igbo as an ethnic group in Nigeria has made efforts to develop the country yet they are been marginalized. The paper therefore, examined the Igbo and the struggle for survival in Nigeria from 1980 – 2019: the inglorious status of the Igbo. The study used secondary data and guided by analytical approach. The paper is of the view that the Igbo needs to apply think home philosophy in order to restrategize and be integrated into the national economy.
