INFLUENCE OF YOUTUBE ‘MARK ANGEL COMEDY’ ON CHILDHOOD SOCIALISATION IN OSUN STATE NIGERIA
Abstract
The newest generations of new media technology are significantly replacing childhood entertainment with intricate alterations in contents generated and distributed through YouTube. This research examined the effects of the "Mark angel comedy" on the socialization of kids in Osun State, Nigeria. The study employed a cross-sectional survey research approach with a sample size of 365 respondents chosen using simple random selection procedures from the three senatorial districts in Osun State, Nigeria, in order to capture the stratified population. A standardized questionnaire was used to gather information from the respondents, and descriptive and inferential statistics were used to the data to analyze it. The results of the research demonstrated that kids between the ages of 5 and 10 have a positive and significant influence on their level of awareness of multimedia material (t-statistics (8.079) > critical value (0.000). The study also showed that exposure to Mark Angel Comedy on YouTube has a favourable and substantial impact on children's learning behaviour (t-statistics (5.229) > critical value (0.000). Furthermore, the study found that parental perceptions of their children's exposure to the Mark Angel Comedy have a favourable and substantial impact (t-statistics (10.326) > critical value (0.000). The study comes to the conclusion that YouTube's "Mark Angel Comedy" has a substantial impact on Nigerian children's socialization, especially those between the ages of 5 and 10. More importantly, it aids in incorporating fresh approaches to teaching kids a wide range of socialisation strategies.
