IMPACT OF BLENDED LEARNING ON THE ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF SENIOR SECONDARY STUDENTS IN GWAGWALADA AREA COUNCIL, ABUJA, NIGERIA

Abstract
The study assessed the impact of blended learning on the academic performance of senior secondary students in Gwagwalada Area Council, Abuja Federal Capital Territory implication for development in technology and engineering. The study was guided by one research question with corresponding one objective and hypotheses. Cross-sectional survey research design was used for the study. A sample size of 800 students was used for the study and four senior secondary schools was selected within the study area. A self-designed questionnaire titled: Questionnaire on the Impact of Blended Learning on the Academic Performance of Senior Secondary Students (QIBLAPSSS) was used for data collection. Descriptive statistics of mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions at the scale of 2.50, while T-test was used to test the hypothesis at 0.05 level of significance. The findings of the study indicated that there is a significant impact of blended Learning on students’ academic performance in secondary schools in Gwagwalada Area Council, Abuja Federal Capital Territory. Based on the findings, it was recommended that technology should be integrated in both private and public secondary schools. Also, that school subject web site where teachers post their lessons to enable students to study ahead should be provided. Likewise, adequate routing training and workshop on the use of ICT gadgets for blended learning should be made available to students and teachers. It was further recommended that there should be partnership with software developers to provide various educative application that can be install on students ‘and family’s smartphone for further study while at home.
