MANAGEMENT OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY FOR EFFECTIVE TEACHERS’ JOB PERFORMANCE IN SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN GWAGWALADA AREA COUNCIL, NIGERIA
Abstract
The paper focus on Management of information communication technology for effective teachers’ job performance in secondary school in Gwagwalada Area Council, Abuja. The researchers used survey research design for the study. The respondents for the study comprise 13 principal and 732 teachers in secondary school in Gwagwalada Area Council, Abuja. The sample was 150 using proportional sampling techniques. Test-re-test method of reliability was used to obtain the internal consistency. Mean scores statistics was used to analyse the research questions. The findings of the study reveals that administrative practices of Information and Communication Technology adopted by principals enhance effective teaching and learning in secondary schools and there is relationship between ICT usage and teachers’ job performance in secondary schools in Gwagwalada Area Council, Abuja. From the finding of the study, the researcher recommended that the school administrators should organize workshop, seminar/ training for teachers who are not able to use ICT facilities in the classroom for proper and effective utilization of the facilities, the government should employ technologists in secondary schools whose mandate would be to train staff and the less informed school administrators on the use of ICT resources for effective teaching and learning and principals should also ensure that the ICT facilities are properly powered and maintained for effective use in instructional delivery as well as sourcing for information to enrich teachers’ knowledge of the subject matter
