QUALITY/EQUITABLE EDUCATION AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOAL IN AGUATA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF ANAMBRA STATE, NIGERIA

Abstract

This study investigated quality/equitable education and sustainable development goal in Aguata local government area of Anambra State, Nigeria. The study was carried out to identify the facture that can enhance the achievement of sustainable development goal in achieving in Aguata local government area of Anambra State, Nigeria. The research was anchored on human capital investment theory propounded by Becker in 1975. The design adopted by the researcher was survey and questionnaire was used as an instrument of data collection. The data collected were presented in tables and analysed using Mean Statistic and Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient (at 0.05% level of significance) through SPSS version 21.0. The study discovered that improved budgetary allocation enhances the achievement of quality/equitable education in Aguata local government area of Anambra State, Nigeria and there is significant relationship between improve infrastructure/material and achievement of quality/equitable education in Aguata local government area of Anambra State, Nigeria. The study concludes that given the reality of education sector funding and infrastructure in Nigeria, the education sector in Nigeria may not produce the needed manpower through which sustainable development agenda could be achieved. Based on these findings, it was recommended that the federal and state governments should enact law that will fix adequate yearly budgetary allocation through the National and state Assemblies. In addition, the various federating units should be mandated to commit very effectively to educational infrastructure and provision of learning equipments.
