IMPACT OF COVID-19 PANDEMIC ON PRIMARY AND SECONDARY EDUCATION IN NIGERIA

IMPLICATIONS FOR POLICY AND PRACTICE OF E-LEARNING

Abstract

This study examines the Impact of COVID-19 Pandemic on Education in Primary and Secondary Schools in Nigeria.  Three research questions were raised to guide the conduct of the study. The study used survey research design method. The target population for this study comprised all the Primary teachers in Adamawa State and teachers, Post Basic School in Adamawa State. Using the Taro Yamane formula, a sample 780 respondents was selected for the study. Data obtained from the questionnaire was quantitatively analyzed using a statistical package. The study revealed that, Nigeria's education system faced numerous difficulties during COVID-19. The study therefore recommended that government and its agencies in charge of education in the country need to adopt an E-learning platform that will complement classroom learning and the Nigerian government needs to copy from other developed nations by partnering with its postal service to deliver worksheets to students in their homes.
